That’s a wonderful article, thanks for linking to it. I hate that influential women don’t receive more coverage, and I think it’s about time that we came to recognise great women. I’ve always wanted to be a game developer myself and completed a game development course last year. Unfortunately before university I did get bullied a lot for my gender (even by authority figures), who would put me down and tell me that I’d never be as good as any male counterpart. This attitude has had a negative impact on my confidence and I do feel easily intimidated around male developers that I haven’t yet become fully acquainted with. It’s a shame because I can see many women falling at such hurdles. I also don’t fight for acceptance for my gender anymore because whenever I try to stand up for myself I get accused of being a feminist and I’m wary of drawing attention to myself in that way. I’m definitely seeing an improvement though as the years have gone by with an increase in awareness and more effort being put towards encouraging women to get on board with the games industry.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
